I already have my DNA results from another company. Can I use them?

In short. Yes. Upload the raw file you already have and we run a rigorous review of it within one business day. We tell you plainly which reports it can support, and if it comes up short you choose one of three ways out: a second file, credit toward a different report or our kit, or a full refund instead. Your DNA is yours, no matter which company ran it, and if you never downloaded your file we will help you get it.

The file most people forget they own

Somewhere in an old email is a link to a DNA file you paid for years ago. You looked at the ancestry pie chart, maybe the eye colour prediction, and moved on. The file behind that pie chart is still yours, it has not changed, and it holds far more than the company that sold it ever showed you.

That file is what we read. Not the pie chart, not the PDF, the raw data underneath. Most companies let you download it in a few clicks, and if yours makes that hard, our download guides walk you through each one.

Why we offer this at all

We offer Bring Your Own DNA because we want you to have answers, and we understand that spending money on yet another DNA test is unappealing. We firmly believe our blood test gives better-quality data. We also know that the swab or spit test you have already taken can get you to a quicker answer for the nagging questions you have now, and it raises the return on the investment you already made in your DNA.

Our promise, in short

We review your uploaded file within one business day and tell you plainly which reports it can support. We will not produce a report we know to be misleading or of inferior quality. If your file comes up short, you choose one of three: upload a second file and we combine both, put the amount you paid toward a different report or our DNA test kit, or take a full refund instead. The full promise, word for word, lives in one place: our promise on the My DNA Data Upload page.

If you do not have a copy of your file, we will do our best to guide you through how to get the DNA file. Your DNA is yours. You own it no matter which company you ran it with, and getting a copy of it for yourself is your right.

Why we review before we build

Different companies read different parts of your DNA. A file made for ancestry was never designed to answer a question about how you handle carbohydrates, and sometimes it simply does not contain the positions a report needs. We would rather look and tell you than build something thin and let you find out later. That is the whole reason the review comes first and the report comes second.

What the review does not do

It does not judge you, and it does not judge the company that made the file. It answers one question: does this file hold enough of what this report needs, at a quality we would put our name on. Sufficient or insufficient, report by report. No marker counts, no percentages, because those numbers mean nothing without something to compare them to.

If you have two files

People who tested with two companies over the years have a quiet advantage: the two files usually cover different positions, and combined they reach further than either alone. Upload both. We treat the pair as one person and one set, and you pay for the report once.

Getting your file back

Every company that tested you can give you your file. Some make it one click, some bury it. Our download guides cover the common ones, with the exact menu path and a phone number where the company has one. If yours is not listed, upload whatever you have and we will work it out from the file itself.

What would you ask your DNA?

Every Answer Report we build starts as a question a real person asked. Yours could be next.

And if we can't build yours, we'll do our best to tell you why.

DNA influences outcomes; it doesn't dictate them.

We are not doctors or geneticists. If the research has been done and we have your DNA, we will do our best to get you your answer.

We use these to plan what to build next. We never sell your email or your idea.
