How to get your DNA file from where it is now
You do not need to know what kind of file you have. Find wherever you were tested, follow their download steps, and send us whatever comes out. We will test whatever you have, and we will work out the rest.
We work with any source, not only the ones listed below. If yours is not here, upload your file anyway and we will let you know. We read what is in the file itself, not the name of the company that sent it, so we would rather look at it than have you guess.
Find who tested you
Your testing company can help you download your file. Where they have a phone line, the number is shown. Where they do not, the address of their instructions or contact page is shown so you can go straight there.
For your privacy protection: once your file is downloaded, you can ask them to delete your DNA data from their database while you have them. It is your right, and it is why we never sell yours.

Genotype or array is the common home test. Whole exome and whole genome are larger files. Any of them can be uploaded.
Company details verified 2026-09-06. Numbers and pages change without notice; if one is wrong, just upload your file and we will handle it.
How to know you have the right file
Name: usually ends in .txt, .zip, .csv, .vcf, or .vcf.gz.
Size: anything from about 5 MB to several GB. If the file is only a few kilobytes, something went wrong and it is worth downloading again.
What it is not: a PDF report, a screenshot, a results page saved from your browser, or an ancestry breakdown. Those are the vendor's interpretation of your DNA, not your DNA. We need the underlying data file.
If you are not sure, upload it anyway. We run a rigorous review of every file as quickly as possible and tell you either way, with the list of reports your DNA file can support. We take up to 3 separate DNA files, because combining across sources can give you better coverage. Read our promise.
Your DNA is yours. You own it no matter which company you ran it with, and getting a copy of it for yourself is your right. If you cannot find your file, the guides below get you to it.
