The same food can upset your stomach before you finish eating, an hour after dinner, at two in the morning, the next day, or on and off for days after that. Which is why nothing in the food diary ever lined up twice.
There may not be just one answer for you. It could be one or more of several, and they do not run on the same clock.
How fast you clear it decides when you feel it. If your system is quick, you may need to excuse yourself before dinner is done. If you are slow to clear it, the same food can wait until the next day, by which point dinner is not even a suspect.
When it does hit fast, it is usually something you did not know was in there. Cream stirred into a soup because that is how it has always been made. Butter finishing a sauce that arrived looking like plain tomato. Milk powder in the dinner rolls. Nobody listed it, so you blame the thing you can see on the plate.
Then there is the work your gut does that nobody mentions. Clearing histamine out of food that has been sitting a while. Feeding the bacteria that ferment what you could not digest. Answering stress before a bite arrives. Each runs at its own speed in each person.
So the useful question is not what to cut. It is which of these are yours:
- Milk and cheese
- Aged, cured or leftover meat
- Onions, garlic and beans
- Chili and heat
- And potentially others
Your IG Answer Report helps you better understand what probably has to go from your diet, and what you could slowly reintroduce. A big improvement over guessing.
So, would you rather keep cutting things one at a time, or find out what your stomach has been trying to tell you?
